Project Statement

The overall concept is to highlight non-profit organizations like the GreenLatinos and their contributions to society who are advocating for sustainability and lead society into better eco-friendly practices. This collaboration with Jimmy Choo will celebrate women like Xiye Bastida who truly devote themselves to the cause with an emphasis on her hispanic heritage woven in.

Jimmy Choo

Brand Research

Jimmy Choo is an exceptional brand that thrives off its luxurious craftsmanship, innovative designs, and women-driven branding, and the choice to collaborate with Jimmy Choo made sense because they believe in a world that revolves around sustainability and diversity, and inclusion. This partnership with GreenLatinos would be for my muse, Xiye Bastida who would be showcasing the silhouette at a gala hosted by the GreenLatinos which takes place every year.

Consumer research

Muse - Xiye Bastida x GreenLatinos

Xiye Bastida is an environmental activist who is also Latina, and while doing my research, I found how influential she truly is, which is very inspiring considering how young she is as well, and I believe she would create the perfect muse for my collaboration with Jimmy Choo and GreenLatinos. The GreenLatinos organization fights against inequality, environmental injustice, and climate regulations. This collaboration is ideal because Jimmy Choo has been constantly enhancing their sustainability practices and promotes diversity as well, aligning with GreenLations core values.

Ideation Process

Exploration

Capri ideation sketches 2_edited.jpg

Throughout my design ideation, I chose to focus on a silhouette that would be for an event such as a gala, which would celebrate GreenLatinos' contributions to society and the earth. During my ideation, I chose to explore many different heel silhouettes that would be fitting for such an occasion, and I incorporated iconic Jimmy Choo design elements while staying true to exploring new options, which would align with Jimmy Choo's current silhouettes. With this being said, I ultimated landed on a pump with a mid-foot strap and incorporated Talavera engraving on the strap and a Dahlia flower, which is the national flower of Mexico.

Color Story

Prosperous Journey

For this color story, I wanted to immerse myself in the Hispanic culture and truly showcase the beauty that this culture represents. Focusing on vibrant colors such as ocean blue and resilient purple helps showcase the true colors reflected within this color story. The dahlia is a focal point within this color story because it helps to represent the earth's beauty and what it truly means for one to be sustainable.
