Project Brief

Throughout this project I wanted to create a silhouette that was dedicated specifically towards autistic trail runners due to the their capabilities and limitations regarding sensations and motor skills. I wanted this group of runners to feel like they have a trail shoe that is catered towards their identity and what makes them unique because running makes them feel free and euphoric and that is what this silhouette encapsulates.

Consumer research

When it comes to the consumer research I chose to highlight autistic individuals because this demographic requires specific attention to detail and to truly adhere to their requirements is very important. So this consumer requires comfort, durability and air flow which are the three pillars of success we are looking for because if the shoe doesn't feel comfortable they wont wear it, if they feel constricted in the silhouette they want to take it off and last if they are running in it everyday consistently they will need durability as well.

Ideation Process

For my ideation I wanted to focus on certain aspects of the shoe that really had purpose and would benefit autisitic individuals. These features I really wanted to focus on were the lacing system because having an easy slip on silhouette is necessary, a comfortable midsole, and durability. Each of these features have a purpose because it ties into autistic individuals and how they operate on a daily basis, with these features would make their life easier and can help them have a smooth ride while running.
